Hi guys, my name is Rachel Smalter Hall and I’m a public librarian who gets excited about reference services, technology instruction and emerging ideas in the field of librarianship. By day I help patrons navigate the interwebs, and by night I fight for intellectual freedom in my Banana Suit! Well, just kidding about the Banana Suit. …or am I?
I grew up in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, in a family of seven that donned bathrobes and towels for our yearly theatrical Christmas Pageant. Since then I’ve lived in Minnesota, Vermont, Rome, and now Lawrence, Kansas, where I write web content at a nearby library, wrangle a beer-drinking, co-ed book club, and write for BookRiot.
My husband Aaron and I have been known to play Settlers of Catan and jet ski (well, that was just once, but still); we have one big cat and one little cat who spoon each other whenever they’re not fighting. When we’re home, we enjoy quiche-making, running, and folding origami peacocks.
